回忆东郊

When the Jin Dynasty moved to the south, Nanjing was its capital

which was full of fancy buildings, surrounded by green mountains,

But the magnificent view and the great Yangtze River could not protect Nanjing

Drunken guests go back to the hostel while singing song for fun

——Li Bai's “Three Poems of Nanjing”

The ancient capital city Nanjing is an important birthplace of Chinese

civilization. With its unique conditions, it tells beautiful legends and

touching stories one by one.

Zhongshan Mountain is also named Zijin Mountain because purple cloud often haunts the top of the mountain. Zhongshan Mountain and Houhu Lake

face each other closely, laying the foundation for Nanjing’s advantageous

terrain. The landscape city and forest were one integrated mass, which can

be said to be the quintessence of Nanjing's landscape and humanity.

Therefore, Zhuge Liang highly praised the city as “Zhongshan Mountain is

like a long dragon, and stones on the mountain look like Tigers. This is what called Imperial Residence”.

Dongjiao History

Nanjing Dongjiao State Guesthouse, founded in 1957 at the southern foot of Zijin Mountain in Nanjing Zhongshan Mountain National Park, covering an area of more than 300,000 square meters, was named Zixiadong Hostel for Zixia Cave in the north of the hotel. It is said that this cave was a retreat for Zhu Yuanzhang's advisors during the Ming Dynasty. Taoist scriptures call it “the 31st year of Zhu Hu's life, the cave of parlance”. The cave is often surrounded by purple cloud, hence the name of Zixia Lake (literally means purple cloud lake) on the west side of the hotel. With the passage of time, it was renamed Zijinshan Hostel and Dongjiao Hotel in succession. Not until 2005, was the hotel officially renamed Nanjing Dongjiao State Guesthouse. After nearly 60 years, on January 1, 2016, Nanjing Dongjiao State Guesthouse reappeared in the long-awaited eyes,

showing its historical accumulation and style of the times.

From the “Ziyun Pavilion” built in 1957 to receive President Mao Zedong's visit to “Zixi Pavilion” that meets

the standards of five-star resort hotels,

this place witnessed the historical upgrading of Jiangsu State Guesthouse's hardware, software and management concept.
